NEW BROCKTON - After mowing down three opponents, the Enterprise Angels were poised to play Geneva for the sub-district championship in New Brockton Tuesday night.
Friday, Enterprise defeated Samson, 12-2, with Jordan Wehunt registering the win. Taylor Rester went 2-for-2 to lead Enterprise at the plate. Olivia Thompson, Carson Hussey, and Alex Watson all were 1-for-2 in the first-round game.
Saturday, the Angels were tested, but prevailed in a 3-2 thriller against Kinston. Wehunt again was the winning pitcher. Hannah Reynolds was 2-for-2, and Hussey was 1-for-1.
Monday, Enterprise squared off against the home-standing New Brockton team and came through with a 7-3 win.
Hussey and Caroline Ritchie were 1-for-1, and Danna Reynolds, Julie Fleming, and Hannah Reynolds all went 1-2. Hannah Reynolds was the winning pitcher.
"The girls are playing good," said Enterprise coach Robbie Wehunt. "They've been hitting good most games and playing good defense. We haven't made too many errors and that's what it takes to win."
