The Enterprise High School girls gave it their all Monday afternoon but the visitors from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy.
Baylor signee Mariah Chandler’s 22 points and numerous blocked shots and intercepted passes, proved too much to handle; Enterprise lost, 60-47, and fell to 10-7 on the season.
The lighting-fast visitors controlled the game from the opening tip-off; SACA led 19-13 after the first period, but clung to a 30-27 lead at intermission before pulling away to hold a 45-31 lead when the final period began.
Ashton Coleman had 16 points to lead the Lady Wildcats in scoring.
Jackie Murphy and 13 points and Mary Richardson added 10 in the holiday game.
Turnovers were Enterprise’s undoing.
“When we came out in the second half down 3 points, we committed 4 quick turnovers they scored off of and that let them stretch the lead back out to about 12 points and we were never able to overcome that,” said EHS coach Melissa White. “I was proud of our effort, though; we played like we used to play, even though we came up short.
“But we were playing against a really strong team, especially inside, and we just didn’t get the job done.”
The Lady Wildcats face another difficult task Thursday when they travel to Barbour County.
“We’ve just got to keep working, trying to get better,” White concluded. “Barbour County is another good team.”
