The First United Methodist Church was the scene for the Second Annual Habitat for Humanity Father-Daughter Banquet recently.
Fathers and daughters dressed in their finest clothes and were treated to a winter wonderland at the fundraiser.
Fathers and grandfathers tried to keep up with their date’s latest dance moves after a dinner catered by Po Folks. The night was filled with songs of the latest music and some of the golden oldies, courtesy of Shake, Rattle & Roll DJ Services.
Habitat for Humanity is preparing to build its 15th home in Coffee County. Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate serving Coffee County.
Board member Jeanine Roberts said, “We are strictly volunteer and obtain no outside funding. All funds are collected locally, spent locally and with the help of local retailers and volunteers, we’re able to build decent, affordable housing for a fraction of the cost.”
Roberts pointed out that Habitat families are not given the homes. Habitat acts as a mortgage company to families providing an interest free loan to those who might not qualify otherwise. Habitat will take donations of usable, like new items, cars, homes and land. Contact Roberts for additional information, to make a donation or to be notified about next year’s dance at 334-313-8885.
