Voters that received letters this week from the Coffee County Board of Registrars will be the only ones who had polling places changed, according to the registrars’ office.
Coffee County Registrar Denine Richey said some people were confused about the letters and their polling locations.
“We sent out the last of the letters this week and people need to keep those letters we sent out because it tells each voter where their new location to vote is,” she said. “Not all voters received the letters, only the voters whose voting locations changed.”
The U.S. Justice Department has approved the new district lines and during the primary, which is March 13, voters will need to place their votes at their new location specified on the letters they received.
“If any changes take place for the district map, it will be after the March 13 primary,” Richey pointed out. “Then, it will only be changed as far as the Rosemont Court location.”
The Coffee County Commission met Jan. 30 to modify the District 5 line, but this will only take place at Rosemont Court. No other district lines will be modified.
“People are welcome to come into the Coffee County Registrars office and look at the new district map,” Richey said. “If they go to their former location of voting, their name won’t be listed there. The only way they can vote is to place their ballot at the new location listed on the letter.”
