A group that helps families with unplanned pregnancies and provides parenting classes will raise money Saturday with a walking event at the Enterprise Recreational Complex.
The Always Hope Pregnancy Center, located on Rucker Boulevard, provides several services for parents with children up to 2 years of age. They also teach parents proper nutrition, provide adoption referrals and organize an abstinence program, director Yolanda Austin said.
The walking event is the group’s largest fundraiser, and it raised $2,000 last year. Austin said the group hopes to raise $25,000 this year as it hopes to be able to provide ultrasounds for expecting mothers.
Registration for the walk begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Participants will follow the walking trail that winds through the recreational complex, about 1 mile in length, Austin said.
“It’ll be a casual stroll,” she said.
About 10:15 a.m., the Christian band JOE (Jesus Owns Everything) will perform praise and worship songs at Pavilion #2. The event is slated to end about 11:30 a.m.
People can register individually and do not have to pre-register to participate in the event. For more information, call the center at 475-3597.
