A man entered the U.S. Post Office in Jack about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday and robbed two postal employees of $300.
According to Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Michael Hines, “the suspect approached the counter and first asked for a money order. When he was told the post office didn’t issue them, he forced his way behind the counter.”
Reports indicted the suspect asked Post Master Roxie Smith and another employee for any cash they had in purses. He then took the cash out of the purses and fled. Neither of the women was injured in the incident.
Hines said the two employees stated the man was black, was wearing dark-colored clothing and drove a possible dark blue car, heading north on Highway 87.
The investigation was turned over to the federal U.S. Post Office Investigators Office.
