Coffee County Schools Superintendent Linda Ingram recently told county school board members that a $1.9 million project at Zion Chapel School is progressing and 50 percent of the front of the main building has been completed.
“The walls are up for the new band room and where we’ve refurbished and renovated the front of the building is about half complete,” she said.
Zion Chapel will have nine classrooms added in a new wing for the high school building since student enrollment at the school has been increasing annually.
Restroom renovations for all county schools are anticipated and invitations for bids are almost ready to send out, Ingram said.
In other business, the board approved a revision of the calendar to add a make-up day on Good Friday, April 2. The make-up day is for the snow day Feb. 12.
The school calendar for 2010 to 2011 is currently under review by board members and is expected to be approved at the next school board meeting.
The board adopted all of the textbooks on the state textbook list.
The Coffee County Board of Education’s next regular meeting is Thursday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the school system’s central office.
