Coppinville teacher wants students to succeed in learning

Coppinville Junior High School teacher Susan Fox loves working with seventh grade students since they are in their “tween” years.

Coppinville Junior High School teacher Susan Fox loves working with seventh grade students since they are in their “tween” years.
“I love working with students, but especially seventh graders,” she said. “It is exciting when one of them who has struggled finally makes a breakthrough.”
Fox received a bachelor’s degree in English from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., in 1973. She is currently working on a master’s degree in library and information studies at the University of Alabama and will graduate in May of 2011.
As a legacy in education, Fox said she wants her students to remember her as someone who cared about their success.
Past and current mentors include Harriet Glenn, a former English teacher at Coppinville.
Favorite music: All kinds.
Favorite books: The classics, mysteries and youth and adult literature.
Pastime: Visiting my grandson Brodie in North Carolina and going to Alabama games.
Talents: Playing handbells at the First Baptist Church in Enterprise.
Pet peeve: Students who don’t put forth their best effort.
How would your friends describe you to a stranger? As a good friend.
Worst fear: Another natural disaster.
Family: Husband, Roger, a retired airline pilot. Son, Jeff, who is married to Lauren. Grandson, Brodie, who is 6 months old; son, Nick and daughter-in-law are both University of Alabama graduates.
