North Main Street, South Main Street and College Street. That where over 130 vendors will be set up at the Boll Weevil Fall Festival downtown Saturday. There is no charge for the event, which begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.
The Pinedale Elementary School Choir, Musical Express, will be on center stage at 9 a.m. Blues artist Little Jimmy Reed performs at 11 a.m. and Christian band J.O.E. takes the stage at 12:30 p.m.
Registration for the children’s costume contest begins at 9 a.m. at the Boll Weevil Monument. “Once a child has received their entry number, he or she needs to line up behind the festival official holding the sign for their particular age group in numerical order by 9:45 a.m,” Chamber of Commerce President Phil Thomas said.
The costume contest age categories are from up to 2 years old, 3 to 6 years old and 7 to 11 years old.
“Since the contest begins at 10 a.m., parents should have their child registered by 9:45 a.m,” Thomas said.
Winners will be announced at the monument at 11 a.m.
Parking will be available behind the courthouse on the corner of Grubbs and Edwards between East Lee and Easy Street and in vacant parking lots farther up North Main, Thomas said.
“Parking can go up to the Farmer’s Market location if needed.”
Arts and crafts, food and drinks, jewelry, stained glass, hand-crafted candles and small furniture are among the items that will be available for sale.
“We have over 130 booths this year,” Thomas said, adding that there are several new vendors. In addition many of the Main Street stores will be open for business.
“Please visit the downtown merchants and discover all that downtown has to offer.”
