Country music singer Lorrie Morgan came to meet the people of Enterprise Thursday at the local Wal-Mart and to support the town and the music that she hopes will contribute to the rebuilding of the new Enterprise High School.

In an interview before her appearance to sign copies of the “We Are Enterprise” CD created by country musicians to benefit the rebuilding of EHS, Morgan said she wanted to “show support for Enterprise and the people who went through misfortunes in the March 1, 2007, tornado.

“When bad things happen, it’s country music that reaches out to people,” she said. “It was devastating to hear about what happened in 2007 and I want to do my part in helping rebuild a high school and a community that has suffered loss.”

On the “We Are Enterprise” CD, Morgan sings the Joe Cocker song, “You Are So Beautiful.”

“That’s how anyone feels about their kids,” she said. “I have a 28-year-old and a 22-year-old, a son and daughter, and I’m thankful for both of them.”

In addressing her future plans at the Country Crossing entertainment venue to be located near Dothan, Morgan said, “the plans are about six to seven months away from opening the restaurant. We’ll have good Southern food, like hot and spicy chicken and fried pickles. We’ll also have hamburgers and things like that, the usual fare.

“Fans are so appreciative of anything you do to help other people. I’ve found out my fans are behind anything I do, like a song on this CD, or opening up a restaurant at Country Crossing.”

Morgan admitted she has had “more fun touring this time than I ever have. I’ve got two new albums coming out — one an album that I’ve written all the songs on called “I Walk Alone,” and another one with classic country songs on it. I’m real excited about what’s opening up for me and hope to come to this area more often.”

The “We Are Enterprise” CD is available online or at Wal-Mart. All proceeds from sales of the CD go to a fund to rebuild Enterprise High School.
