Six Coffee County roads continue to be closed due to the three days of heavy rainfall.
Coffee County Emergency Management Agency Director John Tallas said the closed county roads are 471, 472, 474, 494, 663 and 662.
“We are continually monitoring the road conditions with the Coffee County Engineer’s Department,” Tallas said. “As of Monday morning, we were told these roads are closed.”
Tallas said some of the roads are dirt roads and one road is uninhabited.
“County Road 472 is highly traveled and I anticipate this road will probably be fixed as soon as possible,” he added.
A three-day total of rainfall reported for the area showed Enterprise received 8 inches, New Brockton received 7.5 inches; Elba, 5.2 inches; Daleville, 7.8 inches; Newton, 7.2 inches; and Ariton, 5 inches.
Geneva received the most rainfall with nearly 13 inches, which caused flooding in the downtown areas.
Coffee County farmland received much-needed rain, but some newly-planted crops reportedly washed away during the heavy rain.
Officials are also concerned about additional rainfall that may occur in Coffee County late Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We’re having weather briefings each day and we will continue to monitor the rainfall totals and if there is any storm damage reports throughout the week,” Tallas said.
