The Springs, a teenage country music group from Enterprise, will open for country music star Jeff Bates at a Country Music Association (CMA) Fan Fair event, in Nashville, Tenn., at 1 p.m, Thursday, June 11.
“This is really big, because we don't know of any local band that has ever played at a CMA event,” Springs Manager Randy Halcomb said.
The Springs will be at the Power Source booth that afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m. signing autographs. The group will travel to Georgiana, Ala., On June 12 to play at the Hank Williams Festival.
On June 20, The Springs will perform at the Slocomb Tomato Festival.
The group will also open for Mark Chesnutt at Pier Park, Panama City Beach, Fla., for the July 4 celebration. “The Pier is having its grand opening, and last year there were over 40,000 people there,” Halcomb said. “This could really be a big show for the band.”
Since winning the CCMA's "Youth Artist of the Year" last October in Nashville, The Springs have taken its music career to another level. Having two No. 1 songs on the Christian Country chart in just six months hasn't hurt them, either. The band is offering a different kind of country music; its latest release, "I Didn't Find Jesus", shipped worldwide last week to Christian and mainstream country radio stations.
“Their label, CFC Music, feels that part of the band's mission is to give mainstream country radio more songs to play then just the drinking and partying songs,” Halcomb said.
