The Enterprise Post 73 Braves, coached by Steve Matherly and Mike Tremlett, advanced to the fourth round of sub-district play in Greenville Monday with a 10-5 win against the host Greenville team.
Enterprise improved to 3-0 in the Dixie Majors tournament and advanced to Tuesday's fourth round.
In the top of Monday's first inning, Enterprise pitcher William Tremlett faced only four batters, but his Greenville counterpart found the going rougher in the bottom of the inning.
Chandler Duncan and Trent Matherly opened with singles, and both scored on a deep single by Chris Morris.
The teams had only a hit apiece in the second inning, but in the bottom of the third, Enterprise added another run when Morris singled, stole second and third, and then scored on a passed ball.
Morris led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and moved to third after two walks and was driven home by Tyler Eldreth. Stephen Law drove in two more Enterprise runs in the inning.
Justin Mallory came on in relief of Tremlett when Greenville loaded the bases after three singles in the sixth; Greenville scored twice off passed balls.
The inning ended after five Greenville runs had scored, when two runners were thrown out at second.
A dropped third strike put Enterprise's lead-off hitter, Duncan, on first in the bottom of the sixth; a Matherly triple plated Duncan. After a strikeout, Morris singled to plate Matherly, and a Greenville error that put Eldreth on first also allowed Morris to score the final Enterprise run.
Zach Stephens came on in relief of Mallory in the top of the seventh inning and overcame several infield errors to retire the side and preserve the 10-5 win.
