Mr. and Mrs. Donald Michael Hacker of Birmingham, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter Candis Elise of Birmingham, to Jason William Birchfield of Enterprise, Ala., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lee Birchfield of Enterprise. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James Wesley Hamilton and the late Edith Dunnill Hamilton of Birmingham, and Martin Joseph Hacker and the late Loveda Nix Hacker of Cullman, Ala.

She is a graduate of Auburn University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was the president of the Auburn University Players, a member of the Auburn University Concert Choir, and a member of Alpha Psi Omega honor society.
She is employed with Auburn University.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Harris Birchfield of Wadley, Ala., and the late Mr. Thomas Wesley Doughtie and the late Mrs. Deane Doughtie Copp of Enterprise.
He is a graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Business.
He is employed with the Alabama National Guard.
The wedding is planned for July 26, 2008, at 7 p.m., at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham.
A reception will follow at Old Overton Club.
