The home stretch of the regular softball season didn’t begin as Enterprise High School coach Ben Thompson had planned; the Lady Wildcats lost to Rehobeth, 6-3, Tuesday night and fell to 28-18-1, on the year.

“We played like we were still on spring break,” Thompson said. “We got up on them 3-2 in the first inning, then just quit playing.“ Kaitlin Strickland was the losing pitcher.

In two innings, Strickland gave up five earned runs and six hits, which included two homeruns.

Offensively, Bailey Harrelson was 2-for-3; Ashley Brown was 1- for-2 with an RBI; and Januar Page was 1-for-3 in the losing effort.

“We were sluggish, and this is not the time of the season to be playing poorly. We don’t need to play like we did in this game,” Thompson said. “We should understand at this point that every game is important.”

Enterprise hosts Kinston at 5 p.m. Thursday and travels to Charles Henderson Monday to end the regular season. “After that comes the area tournament at Dothan High,” Thompson said.

“We won’t be able to win a game in the tournament playing like we did against Rehobeth. We didn’t win 28 games playing poorly.”
