New building in the works for Enterprise McDonald’s

There won’t be any egg McMuffins for a while since the long-standing McDonald’s building in Enterprise is being torn down in place of a new one.
Enterprise McDonald’s owner and operator Jerry Murphy said the building has stood for 33 years.

“It’s been here a long time, but we’re shooting for the new building to be up and running in 60 to 90 days,” he said. “It’s just according to the weather conditions.”

Murphy said the new McDonald’s will have a completely new look and design.

“We’ll have an indoor play area and new contemporary decor. The outside will have a new design with stone facade, so we’ll look like the other new McDonald’s buildings that have been built recently.”

The new business will include a two-lane drive-through and will stay open for 24 hours.

“I believe our customers will be happy with the end product of the new store,” Murphy said. “We’ll have the same great menu we’ve had before and I do want to thank all of the folks in Enterprise for supporting us all these years.”

A Grand Re-opening is planned when the new McDonald’s opens, Murphy said.

The current McDonald’s employs 60 people.

According to Wikipedia, Richard “Dick” J. McDonald and brother Maurice “Mac” McDonald, established the first McDonald’s restaurant in San Bernardino, Cal. in 1940.

The brothers began franchising in 1953 and all the stores were built to the standard design, including the famous Golden Arches.

In 1954, a milkshake machine salesman, Ray Kroc, became inspired by the brothers’ concept and after partnering with the brothers, they turned their small restaurant into a huge franchise that would later become the McDonald’s Corporation.

In 1961, Kroc purchased the company from the brothers for $2.7 million. Although Kroc turned McDonald’s into a global giant, its guiding principals remained largely unchanged from those the McDonald brothers had devised in 1948.

Problems with old buildings may not be evident on the surface.  As for the restrooms, floors, etc., I think a lot can be said about some of the hygiene practices of customers.  McDonald’s is a great place to take little kids…no wonder there’s ketchup everywhere!  How many parents these days instruct their children as to how to behave in public?  Again, I am glad to see growth here.  And I think it is encouraging to everyone in light of depressing thoughts about the economy in general.  I personally do not frequent Mcdonald’s a lot.  I usually go when I am in a hurry and very hungry and tired of eating other stuff.  I just feel better knowing it is there and convenient should I need it.  I noticed the Dairy Queen in Dothan received a nice facelift.  A nice, up-to-date look now greets customers.  I thought I read somewhere that Ruby Tuesday restaurants would get a make-over too.  All of these activities keep people employed.  I’m all for it.

What was wrong with the old building? Was there something wrong with the structure itself? This is sad that many people have to be laid off because of greed of the owners. Also, why waste brick and mortar on another McDonalds. Let’s get some real food in Enterprise. I always question the intelligence level of all the people that line up at McDonalds around lunch time. One would think those people have never eaten food before. I wonder how long it would take this new store to have ketchup smeared all over the floor and dirty tables where no one bothers to clean them. Also, I wonder how long it would take for the restroom to look like the old ones. Now that I think of it, maybe building a new structure is the only way for Enterprise to have a clean McDonalds.

I think this is exciting news.  I am glad to see growth here!  I have always had good service from the Enterprise McDonald’s, and they do have salads for those who are watching their fat and cholesterol intake.  And on the larger scale of international locations, McDonald’s didn’t get as large as it is for no reason.

Wow! Just what Enterprise needs another “new” bad food restaurant! Be still my cholesterol laden heart.

If I’m not mistaken, there are at least three McDonald’s restaurants within 20 miles or so, in Daleville and Ozark—and isn’t there one inside the E’prise Walmart, too?

We have many choices in Enterprise for fast food.  I would like to see some variety, like a good Indian restaurant, or maybe Greek or Persian.  Even a vegetarian cafe would be welcome!

Are we seriously supposed to be happy about this?  Instead of actually building a SECOND store, just make the old one twice as large with twice the traffic problems and twice the horrible service!!!  OF COURSE Enterprise has supported the store for 33 years; IT’S THE ONLY ONE FOR 40 MILES!!!!  Why doesn’t someone buy a franchise out by the new high school?  And this is not a rhetorical question!!!!
