Enterprise Operation Santa’s “Movies for Food” set for Saturday
There are at least three things that “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “Space Chimp” have in common. They are all movies; all rated family friendly and all three are part of this year’s “Movies for Food.”
Sponsored by the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department and Clark Theatres, the purpose of the annual “Movies for Food” is to provide a happier holiday for those less fortunate, according to Warren Bowron, programs coordinator for the department.
Bowron and theatre manager James Burch worked last Friday to finalize plans for the “food-raiser” set for Saturday, Nov. 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the Clark Theatre’s College Cinema in Enterprise. Admission is three or more canned food items, Bowron said. “The donations and canned foods received will benefit our food bags for those less fortunate.”
Last year, 235 food baskets were distributed from the Operation Santa “Movies for Food” program, Bowron said. The primary beneficiaries are the area elderly, he added. The recreation center on Lee Street is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays as a canned food donation site.
On Saturday, canned food donors can choose to view either “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” “Paul Plart: Mall Cop” or “Space Chimp,” Burch said. “All three are great shows, all three are rated PG.”
