As the school year ended for Coffee County school students Thursday, teachers and administrators gathered to say farewell to several retiring faculty members.

New Brockton High School honored secretary Carol Hamilton, who many said in the ceremony the school “just won’t be the same without a Mis’ Carol.”
With family members present, along with current and former faculty members, Hamilton said her last goodbye to the staff and school.

“I am so touched and so appreciative of everything,” she said wiping away the tears. “I will miss you all.”

Retiring also was David Speigner, the career and tech teacher. Speigner also thanked everyone while saying goodbye to a long career at NBHS.

Ella Burrows, a fifth-grade teacher at New Brockton Elementary School, said farewell to her class Thursday.
Students gathered around Burrows with hugs.

“After 38 years in teaching, you know when to say goodbye,” Burrows said. “I’ll miss everyone here at the elementary school and especially my kids.”
