Two Coffee County men remain in jail on charges of kidnapping, robbery and assault in an incident involving a New Brockton man. Bond is set at $150,000 for each suspect.
Daniel Strickland, 43, of Enterprise, and Randy Snell, 30, of Coffee Springs, are charged with the June 28 attack and abduction of Tommy Hutchison, 47, of New Brockton, according to New Brockton Police Chief Dale Grimes.
The incident apparently began when Strickland and Snell traveled to Hutchison’s daughter’s home searching for Strickland’s wife, who is Hutchison’s sister, Grimes said.
Hutchison apparently refused to disclose his sister’s whereabouts, Grimes said, and Strickland began to attack Hutchison. Grimes said Strickland and Snell forced Hutchison into a truck and drove him to a house and, after demanding money from Hutchison, took him to a gas station.
“The assault, kidnapping and robbery charges stem from those events,” Grimes said.  As the truck was returning to New Brockton, a Coffee County Sheriff’s Department patrol car stopped the trio. Strickland and Snell were arrested and Hutchison was taken to Medical Center Enterprise for treatment, Grimes said.

Hutchison, who said he was thrown to the ground and kicked in the ribs when he tried to cover his face, is still recovering from the incident and is under medical care. When the patrol car stopped the truck shortly after midnight, Hutchison said he was told to explain his bleeding face to the officers by saying he had been in a car wreck, which he initially did.
District Judge Paul Sherling set bonds of $100,00 for first-degree kidnapping, $30,000 for second-degree robbery and $20,000 for the second-degree assault charge.
